New Mexico Just Got a Little More Enchanting

When last we checked in on Professor/Pimp David Flory, he was earnestly explaining that his exclusive web site “Southwest Companions” was simply providing “a safe place for guys to find female prostitutes.”

Now that he has apparently beaten the rap, Big Daddy Flory has resumed negotiations with Touchstone for film rights to his tails of New Mexico.

Apparently, the courts in New Mexico beg to differ.  According to ABQJournal Online, “District Judge Stan Whitaker on Monday ruled that neither a website, an online message board nor a computer amount to a ‘house of prostitution or a place where prostitution is practiced, encouraged or allowed,’ a necessary element of the crime of promoting prostitution.”

Of course, this ruling applies only, says ABQJO, to the court case associated with the “prostitution-related charges against former University of New Mexico President F. Chris Garcia.”  Whether the legality of the multi-state operation masterminded by Professor Flory–who by the way called his cottage sex industry his “hobby”–will be determined by the NM courts remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Professor Flory remains employed by Fairleigh-Dickinson University, where his faculty page roguishly includes:

Publications, press mentions:
Prof. Flory has been interviewed by New Jersey media, both print and electronic, on a variety of topics. He is happy to speak with the press in the areas of astronomy, physics, prehistoric astronomy, comets, black holes and stars. For family/living sections, he is an expert on getting started in astronomy, family activities with astronomy, and the night sky month-by-month.

I hope that faithful readers will not be disappointed if I refrain from inappropriate riposts about black holes, seeing stars, or fun family activities under the night sky.
